(And How to Make Them Feel Natural)

When new clients first reach out, they often tell me their main goal is to “look professional.”

And while that’s a great place to start, I encourage them that we can aim a little higher. 🙂

Because brand photography isn’t just about looking polished, it’s about creating images that connect, communicate, and most importantly…convert.

If you want your visuals to feel intentional and instantly elevate your business, here are three key types of photos that belong in your brand library:

1. Your Face

People connect with people.
Showing your face builds immediate trust. When you are smiling with confident energy, it makes you approachable and does a great job of welcoming in your ideal clients. Whether it’s your website header or your LinkedIn profile, these are the photos that help someone feel like they’ve met you before they every share a room with you.

Where to use: Your About page, email signature, social media profile. Wherever first impressions count.

2. You in Action

These “working” shots give tons of credibility. They show that you’re in your element– meeting with a client, typing away at your laptop, or holding the tools of your trade.

But here’s the secret: they shouldn’t feel staged. (And that’s where I come in!)

During your session, I use natural prompts that help even my clients that claim they are “so awkward” in front of the camera feel relaxed. Things like…

  • “Pretend your favorite client just walked through that door.”
  • “I think you need to do a quick check of your email.”
  • “Okay, now gaze out that window and OMG your kids just said the most hilarious thing”

By using lighthearted directions, we bring out movement, emotion, and natural energy. The poses that stop the scroll.

Where to use: Your services page, social media posts, proposals, and weekly emails.

3. Your Product or Service Story

This is truly where your brand visuals come to life. Styled and photographed in a way that is unique to you and showing your environment, your tools, or your finished product give clients a peek behind the curtain.

These aren’t traditional product photos; but lifestyle-driven visuals that help your audience envision what it feels like to work with you. They help you tap into emotional driven marketing, which is oh-so-powerful.

Where to use them: Your website galleries, blog headers, and promotional materials.

It’s Not About Having Hundreds of Photos…

It’s about having the right ones.

When your images tell your story with purpose, your brand instantly looks cohesive, credible, and yes, professional!

But more than that… it feels authentic to you.
