I almost always help with this…
When clients reach out to me, one of the things they always need is photos for their website.
Whether they are a new business, going through a re-brand, or just at the place where they can finally elevate their look up to show up professionally, brand photos on a website are key!
Why? This is your customer facing interactive business card where you not only lay out how you help them, but have the opportunity to create a positive impression and build a long lasting relationship right from the start.
What does this look like?
Here is one example of my client using brand photos in 5 places to build know, love and trust on their business website.
1. Website header
Sometimes referred to as the “splash image,” this is a horizontal photo at the very top of your website that grabs attention and introduces clients into your world. It’s a great idea to have something wide (not close-up) and include negative or white space on one side so you have room for copy, (your main message or tagline), in words.
2. About
Please go beyond a (boring) corporate headshot. I suggest a flattering lifestyle photo that introduces your FACE and your personality.
3. Services
Showcase what you do and most importantly how you HELP in a visually cohesive way (not random stock images). The beauty of a brand shoot is that you get a series of photos all matching in colors, lighting and feel. This way the pages all flow and lay out an enticing click journey for the visitor.
4. Contact
Invite potential customers to take that next step with you with a welcoming photo of you at work! This is your call to action – in other words, the thing you want website visitors to DO. Driving your clients here should be the focus of all your pages.
5. Blog
Having brand photos on hand means you can easily share content that keeps you top of mind. For you, this might mean a monthly blog, weekly emails, or Linked in articles. Ask yourself if you would pay attention to a piece of content if it were only words. I think not. 🙂
Your online presence is more important than ever
Beautiful brand photos differentiate you in seconds (which, by the way is all you get when it comes to creating an impression on your website).
Want to get the most out of your brand photography session? Proactively think about the customer journey that you want to lay out for potential clients online, and envision them clicking through your website.
Then ask yourself “What do they need to know (and see) from me in order to take the next step?”
